Like Richard Petty before him, Dale Earnhardt seems to be concentrating his late career successes on the big superspeedways. In 1999 he won at Talladega twice, becoming the only driver to win there two times in one season since 1990; when the last driver to accomplish that fesat was: Dale Earnhardt. He remains the winningest driver in the 125-mile Daytona 500 qualifying races, and won another IROC race at Daytona in 2000 as well. What makes these results so incredible is hoe Earnhardt has prevailed despite horrifying rollover wrecks while racing at both Talladega and Daytona in the past. The Intimidator is not intimidated.

Dale Earnhardt is the master of The Draft. His competitors follow him, trying to figure it out. Railbirds claim that Dale can "see air flow". However he does it, Earnhardt is the all-time most successful driver at Talladega, with nine wins. He has won more races at Daytona than any active driver, finally getting his victory in the 500 on his twentieth attempt. During the past twenty-two years, Dale has won 46 races and 12 poles on superspeedways.

Since returning to Richard Childress Racing in 1984, Earnhardt has enjoyed the longest consecutive owner-driver relationship in NASCAR Cup racing: 16 yeasrs. Together with crew chief Kevin Hamlin, who himself won twp SAS Championships with driver Butch Miller, the GM "Mr. Goodwrench" Performance Parts and Service Team plans to continue their success with Dale Earnhardt beyond the year 2000, until Dale Earnhardt's un-timely death on 2001.
